Cadillac STS Radio Screen Have No Display? Here's A Solution.

If you own a Cadillac STS, you may have noticed some issues with your infotainment system. Most commonly, the radio screen suddenly goes blank. If you’re in this situation, you’re not alone. In this guide, we’ll help you troubleshoot the issue.

Does The Radio Still Work?

Can you still hear the radio? Can you still control the volume? Can you still change the radio stations? If so, the display is the issue here. The radio is still getting the power it needs, but the display is not showing anything. There are a few possible reasons for this:

1. Malfunctioning Light Sensor

There’s a light sensor on the top part of your dash. If the light sensor is not working right, it may not cause the display to adjust its brightness enough. For example, the light sensor may not register that it’s daytime. This makes the display “think” that it’s nighttime. Therefore it will have its brightness dialed way down.

You can try covering and then uncovering the light sensor to see if the display adjusts its brightness. You can also adjust the brightness level on your display (if you can) to see if it works.

2. Low Or High Temperature

The Cadillac STS infotainment cue screen can be very temperature sensitive. If it’s freezing outside, the display may remain blank until the car warms up a bit. The opposite is also true. If it’s too hot outside, the display may remain blank until the car cools down a bit.

3. Broken Display

It’s possible that the display is broken. Maybe the backlight went out. If you suspect that you have a broken display, you have two options:

  1. Get the display repaired
  2. Replace the radio

Is The Radio Completely Unresponsive?

Is the blank display screen only a symptom of an unresponsive radio? If you can’t hear anything while fiddling around with the radio, then the entire unit isn’t working. In this case, there are two different potential reasons for this:

  1. There’s something wrong with the fuse and/or wiring
  2. The radio is broken

Checking The Fuse

The first thing you want to do is check the radio fuse. See if it’s blown or if you can find any other issues with it. If the fuse is the issue, try replacing it.

Checking The Wiring

If the fuse looks good, the next thing you want to do is check all the wires related to the radio. There may be a short. Look for any damage like fraying, corrosion, etc. Also, check the connectors. Sometimes the issue may just be a loose connection.

If the fuse and wiring look good, then chances are the radio is broken. You can either have it repaired or replaced.
