Tools Needed

To install your 2018 RAM replacement infotainment screen, you will need:

  • 7mm socket wrench
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • T20 socket
  • Pry tools
  • Small magnet (for retrieving some of the recessed screws)

Screen Removal

1. Begin by removing the two rubber trays from the center console.

2. There is one at the front of the console and one in the middle of the console, simply pull them out.

3. Remove the 7mm screw in the center of the console.

4. It can be difficult to retrieve by hand so you may need to use a magnet to retrieve the screw after it has been undone.

5. Remove the two screws at the front of the console with your Phillips head screwdriver.

6. After the screws have been removed, lift up on the upper console to release it and unplug the single plug for the 12-volt outlet and set the console aside.

7. Remove the rubber tray from the top of the radio bezel to reveal the two T20 screws.

8. Remove the two screws.

9. Next, remove the rubber tray to the right of the heater controls and remove the T20 screw behind it. (You will need the magnet again to get it out of the hole after you have unscrewed it).

9. Next you will use your pry tool to carefully pry the radio bezel away from the dash. There are clips all along the outside edge so work along the outside edge and pull out the rest of the way by hand.

10. Once the bezel is pulled away from the dash, remove all the plugs by compressing the tabs and pulling them away. The shifter plug has a safety latch that must be pulled to the back of the plug before it can be removed. You will do this with your screwdriver or pry tool.

11. Once the latch is at the rear of the plug, compress the tab and remove it. Set the bezel aside.

12. There are four 7mm screws that hold the screen to the dash. Remove them with your 7mm socket wrench.

13. Pull the screen away from the dash. Unplug all the connectors by compressing their tabs and pulling them away. (A tool to push the tabs in can be helpful here).

14. The large plug is a lever type connector which you must pull upwards towards the middle to release. Once you have done this, the screen can be removed.

Installation Of New Screen

15. To install, begin by plugging in the large connector with the lever and pushing it down to the left side. To install, begin by plugging in the large connector with the lever and pushing it down to the left side. Reattach the rest of the plugs. The plugs are all color-coded to their connectors on the back of the screen. Once you have plugged in all of the connectors, place the screen into its slot in the dash and reattach the four 7mm screws.

16. Now, line up the radio bezel with the dash and begin reattaching all the connectors starting from the bottom and working your way up. Remember to slide the locking tab on the shifter plug back into position after attaching it.

17. Once everything is plugged in, position the bezel in the dash and push it in to the seat all the tabs.

18. Next you will reattach the T20 screw in the hole to the right of the heater control, then place the rubber tray back into position.

19. Now you will reattach the two T20 screws at the top of the radio bezel. Place the rubber tray back into position.

20. Position the upper console into the center and plug in the 12v outlet plug then set the console down into position.

21. Reattach the two Phillips head screws at the front of the console. Place the rubber tray back into position.

22. Now, reattach the 7mm screw in the center of the console and place the rubber tray back into position. Installation is now complete.
