You will need the following tools to complete this procedure.

- 10 mm socket with ratchet

  • Turn the truck off and allow it to completely stop.
  • Open the fuse panel in the engine compartment by pressing inward on both sides of the panel.
  • The fuses are labeled "F" followed by a number. Press inward on the fuse panel and pull down the fuse that says "ODO/TRIP".
  • This fuse will be either a 15 amp or 20 amp fuse. Pull the fuse straight out of the socket and keep it for the procedure.
  • Make note of which side is on top so that you can easily replace the fuse in its proper position after the reset.
  • The speedometer is now reset. Replace the fuse by putting it in the socket with the top side of the fuse on the bottom and pushing it back into place.
  • Close the fuse panel by pressing inward on both sides and pushing it back into place.
  • Plug the speedometer ford connector back onto the speedometer and turn the key to the on position.
  • Start the truck. The speedometer needle should be pointing at zero.
  • After the truck is completely warmed up, check to make sure that you are receiving the correct speed reading.
  • If your readings are still inaccurate after checking the proper installation of the speedometer ford connector and replacing the fuse, you should bring your vehicle to a professional for servicing.
