The gauge cluster for the 2005 Ford F150 instrument cluster is a little more complex than a previous model year. The gauges are actually mounted to the backside of the clear plastic that makes up most of the face of your cluster. This means that in order to replace one, you have to go through some extra steps. You have to take the cluster apart, remove the gauge itself and then reinstall it with a new one.

Disengage the engine (parking brake not necessary); Turn your headlights on; Turn signals on; Make sure all other electronics like radio etc. are also turned off; Put your key in the ignition and turn it to the ACC position for about 10 seconds.
This will drain your battery and give you enough time to be towed home without it dying. Once this is complete, start your F150 again and pray that the cluster comes back online! If not, go ahead and send it to us!
How do you know if a cluster is bad?
A cluster is bad when any of the gauges are not working, needles are jumping, etc. If you have a bad cluster there is no need to try and fix it yourself. You can simply go ahead and replace it with a brand new cluster!
If the cluster has intermittent power issues it means the cluster is not getting enough power to run properly. There are a few things that can cause this problem, but the most common is either a faulty connection or bad fuses on your truck.
If the interior lights on your cluster are not working, there is a very simple way to fix this problem that you should check first. Make sure that the cluster bulbs are snug and secure. If they still do not work, simply take them out and remove any dirt or grime from them with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol.
Dome light will not turn off even when the door is closed on a 2007 Ford F150.
In order for this to work, you must leave some dome lights on. Go ahead and turn all of the lights off except for some in the rear. Once you have done that, go ahead and wait about three minutes before going back to check out your dome light. It should now be off!
