Why are my Chevrolet Silverado dash lights out?

Reasons why your Silverado dash lights are out:

1. Bulb burned out

2. Fuse is blown/circuit breaker popped

3. Bad dimmer switch or dimmer switch socket

4. Short circuit in wiring to the bulb, a bad connection somewhere, a poor ground point anywhere on the vehicle electrical system, a loose wire somewhere - something is causing a current leakage from the dimmer switch wiring.

5. A bad dimmer switch

Troubleshooting Steps:

Make sure that the bulbs are not burned out. To check the bulb follow this link  Chevy Silverado Headlights. If your light bulbs are fine, to be extra certain you can test each one by swapping it with another lamp on the vehicle.

My 2002 Chevrolet Silverado instrument cluster lights are out. Now what?

First, check to see if any of the dash lights are burned out by replacing them one at a time. Then test the gauges and warning lights with a voltmeter and compare them to the factory manuals specifications. Next, you can test your fuses using a multimeter; make sure that there is power getting to each individual gauge. If all of these tests check out fine, follow the wiring from each gauge to find a break or bad connection.

Once you have found the faulty connection, fix it and your gauges should work properly again. There are some cases where a new instrument cluster will need to be purchased because shorted or burned wires can not be repaired easily.

GM instrument cluster bulbs are out. Where can I get a repair?

Instrument cluster bulbs can be repaired simply by replacing the old bulbs with new ones. Any brand will likely do, but we suggest OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts to get the best quality.
