How do you know your DVD player needs to be replaced?
If you're experiencing any of the issues mentioned above, then the first thing you should do is check all the fuses related to the DVD player in the Tahoe.
The fuse box is located in the engine compartment, on the driver's side.
Once you've checked and made sure that all the fuses are good, the next thing you should think about is the DVD player ribbon. This is a common problem and it's an easy fix. You can find the replacement ribbon cable on Amazon.
If that's not the case, then the next thing you should do is clean the DVD player lens. This is a very common problem and it's an easy fix.
These are the most common solutions to the problem. If you've tried all of these and you're still having the same issue, then you might need to replace the DVD player.

How do I get my DVD player to work in my 2015 Tahoe?
The technology in the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe is a big step forward from last year. It has brought many new features to enhance your driving experience, but the one that you are concerned about is how to get your player to work.
The problem is not with your player itself but rather the wiring harness that has gone bad. When the wiring harness goes bad it can cause all sorts of issues throughout your SUV.
If your player is not working then you will need to replace or reattach the wiring harness located underneath the right rear seat of your SUV.
It is a very simple job that should take you less than an hour to complete. Below are the steps involved in removing and replacing your wiring harness.
Tools Needed:
Small flat head Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the Right Rear Seat:
To get started you will need to remove the right rear seat, this can be accomplished by lifting up on the top of it and pulling forward. Once you have removed the right rear seat you will need to reach underneath the seat and unplug the wiring harness.
Next, you will reach down under the seat and unclip the wiring from the seat. You can then wiggle the wiring harness free from under the seat and disconnect it from the player located in the trunk of your SUV.
If you would like to completely remove your wiring harness from your SUV you can do so by unplugging the wiring from both ends of the harness.
Plugin the New or Reattached Wiring Harness:
Once you have unplugged your old wiring harness you can plug the new wiring harness back in. You will notice that there are 4 clips along the length of the wiring harness, make sure each one is snapped in place. If you have to remove the wiring harness from your SUV, please read below for instructions
Gaining Access to the Wiring Harness:
In order to disconnect the wiring harness from your SUV, you will need to fold back the rubber boot located at the top of the rear seat. Next, you will need to remove the 3 push-in fasteners that hold the carpet down in place and the center console in place.
Next, you will need to push on the top of the center console and it should pop off. You can then unplug the wiring harness from your player and remove the wiring from your SUV.

Plug the Wiring Harness back in:
Once you have removed all of the wiring from your vehicle you can plug the wiring back in. Please follow these instructions carefully, as this is a very important part of the job.
On the wiring harness, there are 4 black clips that you will need to attach. The two outer clips are not used by your player, they are for attaching the carpet back in place. The two inner clips are for the wiring harness.
After you plug your wiring harness back into the player, you will need to snap the center console back in place. Once this is done you can re-install your push-in fasteners and rubber boot.
Replace the Right Rear Seat:
Once your wiring harness is reattached to your vehicle, you can reinstall the right rear seat. You will need to lift the top of the rear seat into place and then pull it forward.
Once you have reinstalled your rear seat, you can test your player to see if it is working properly. If the unit does not work properly you will need to go back and double-check your installation.
If you have a problem with the wiring or seats, then you will need to contact a professional.
