WHY YOU SHOULD ADD A GM TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GAUGE TO A CHEVROLET OR GMC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.

There are three reasons you should add this instrument cluster to your vehicle.

  • The first reason is that it looks really good in the car's dashboard and gives you the readings that you need to monitor your vehicle.
  • If you ever load up your vehicle or tow then it is really important to keep your eye on how much your vehicle is working.
  • The third reason you should get this instrument cluster is that it's really easy to install. Most replacement and installs can be done in under 20 minutes.

The transmission temps will be higher when you are doing heavy haulage, climbing hills or accelerating hard.

The car's transmission has to work harder at these times and the engine will be running at higher rpm. If the engine is working harder, it's also generating more heat. When you take your car to a track for a high speed run, the transmission temperature will be at its highest. If you're driving on a hot day, it's even more likely that your car's transmission will overheat.

For these reasons, we recommend that you keep your eye on the temp.

Silverado Truck Instrument Cluster

Transmission temp gauge Silverado install

This is a Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It has the 4.8 liter engine, the 5 speed transmission and it's an automatic. We are going to install the "Performance Gauge Cluster" for this truck.

The first step is to remove the old gauge cluster. Remove the bolts from the bolts holding the cluster in place. Then, remove the wiring harness from the back of the gauge cluster so you can pull it out from the dashboard.

Once you have the old cluster taken out of your car, take a look around to make sure there's nothing else you need to remove. If you're all set, take the new Performance Gauge Cluster and slide it into place in your dashboard. Replace the bolts that hold it in place.

Now, connect the wiring harness to the new gauge cluster and slide it into place. Test out your new gauge cluster before you put everything back in your car.

How to add transmission Temperature gauge on Silverado

The easiest way to add a transmission temperature gauge on a Silverado is to purchase a cluster from ISS Automotive. The reason is that the temperature gauge is include in the cluster and it's better to purchase a replacement cluster. This also ensures that all the gauges and cluster is professionally tested and is OEM to work with your electronics.

Silverado Transmission Gauge

Transmission temperature gauge

The first reason you should get a trans temp gauge is that it makes your car shift smoother. The wrong amount of trans fluid will cause your car to shift harshly. This can be very dangerous if it happens when you are going at high speeds. Thankfully, a transmission temperature gauge can help prevent this from happening.

The second reason you should get a trans temp gauge is that it makes your car last longer.

  • If your car's trans fluid is too hot or cold, it cannot work as well. So, you should regularly check the temperature of your engine oil.
  • The third reason you should get a transmission temp gauge is that it's easy to install. All you have to do is buy the gauge in advance.
  • Then, find somewhere inside your car where you can put it. For example, you could mount it on your dash board.

The final advantage of a transmission temp gauge is that it's easy to read. All you have to do is glance at it and you'll know the temperature of your car's engine oil.

How do you install a transmission temp gauge?

The easiest way is to simply install a replacement instrument cluster.

To install a transmission temp gauge, you have to have a 2-wire sender that is compatible with the gauge being installed. Then, you connect the wires into the appropriate ports on the gauge. Typically, there's a sender that hooks into the transmission pan or on top of the transmission. Using this sender, you run the wires from the sender to the gauge.

This is what you need to do to install a transmission temp gauge. Trans cooler lines are also helpful during this process to ensure the engine oil remains at an optimal temperature.

  • Trans temp gauge wiring is also important for this installation. Aftermarket cooler lines are a great choice. Otherwise, you can use the original lines from the car.
  • Certain internal components of automatic transmissions can cause problems if they overheat.
  • Temperature gauges allow drivers to make sure those components don't overheat and possibly damage the transmission.

A failing transmission can result in costly repairs. It's important to make sure the temperature of an automatic transmission remains below a certain level for it to function properly and last a long time. A temperature gauge is an easy way to tell the temperature of the engine oil. Temperature gauges come in different styles and colors to ensure you get the perfect match for your dashboard.

Transmission cooler

A transmission cooler is used to cool trans fluid. Trans fluid helps your car's gears shift smoothly. The cooler the trans fluid, the less likely it is to overheat. This means it is less likely you will have problems when you shift gears in your car.

  • Adding a transmission cooler to your car can help make it safer for you to drive. It also makes the car last longer because there's less chance of transmission fluid overheating.
  • A transmission cooler is easy to install, but you have to buy it in advance. You also need a place in your car's engine bay where you can put the cooler.
  • This way, the transmission fluid has somewhere to go before it goes into your engine.
  • Once you have purchased a place for the cooler and installed it, you just need to hook up the hose and add transmission fluid.

There are several reasons why you should add a transmission cooler: it helps make your car shift smoothly, it helps the car last longer and it's easy to install.

Transmission temp

A transmission temperature gauge can help you see how hot your car's trans fluid is. Fluid that's too hot or too cold cannot work as well. So, you need to check the temperature of your trans fluid regularly. This is much easier if you have a transmission temp gauge installed in your car.

Transmission temps are important because they impact how your car drives, its longevity and even the life of other parts.

  • A typical engine will have a temperature gauge to let you know when the engine is too hot or cold.
  • The transmission will also need a temperature gauge because its job is to get the power from the engine to the wheels.
  • When you notice that your transmission temp is off, it could be due to a number of reasons.
  • A trans cooler line may need to be bled or you could have a trans fluid leak.
  • The transmission oil will be hot when you start your car after it has been sitting in the sun.

Also, if you're clocking a lot of miles, the trans temp will be at its highest. When you are on the track, your car's transmission is working very hard. This puts more heat into the fluid. When you're in stop and go traffic, this also causes the trans temp to increase. The transmission coolers are designed to keep your car's trans fluid at the right temperature.

Transmission sump temperature

Transmission sump temperature is the measure of the temperature in the sump area. The sump is a container for engine oil, and has several pipes that go to it. For example, the engine o coming through the filter is cooled in the sump area.

The most common areas for a transmission sump to be located is underneath the car, or at the back of a four wheel drive.

Transmission sump temperature is a good indicator of how well your transmission is working.

  • If the sump temperature is above normal, then the transmission fluid is not being cooled properly.
  • This means that there are problems with the transmission's cooling system, or with the coolant. The most common cause of this is a broken fan belt.
  • This problem can often be fixed very easily by adding water to your transmission fluid.
  • If the problem continues after this, then it indicates that there is a more serious problem with the car's cooling system.
  • The fluid temperature should be monitored to see if the problem is being caused by something other than a broken fan belt.

The sump temperature can also indicate problems in the transmission itself. If the sump temperature is below normal, then it is too cold and the oil in the transmission is thickening. This will dramatically reduce the efficiency of the transmission and may even cause long term damage to it. If this happens, you should take the car to a transmission specialist as soon as possible.

Finally, if your sump temperature is too high then it indicates that the fluid is overheating. This can be caused by too much resistance in the transmission oil, such as using an incorrect grade of oil or a filter that is clogged. You should get this looked at by a transmission specialist, as the cause needs to be identified and fixed to prevent further damage to your car.

If the transmission fluid is too hot, it can permanently damage your transmission and cause a loss of performance. Transmission specialist recommend checking the transmission sump temperature at least once a month, if you have a transmission with an electronic gauge.
