How To Remove A 2009-14 Ford F-150 Instrument Cluster

If you’re ready to get your 2009-2014 Ford F-150 instrument cluster repaired, this post will walk you through the removal process step by step. All you need are a few simple tools and a garage or driveway to work in - you’ll give new life to your old dash in no time at all.

Tools Required

To remove this instrument cluster you will need:

  • 7 mm socket wrench and a small ratchet
  • Pry tool or flathead screwdriver
  • Magnet or needle nose pliers

To make this job a little easier, you might want to have a magnet or needle nose pliers on hand to get some of the screws that are recessed into the dash and possibly hard to get to by hand.

Remove Your F-150 Instrument Cluster

1. Begin by lowering the steering column into its lowest position.

2. Use your 7mm socket attached to your small ratchet to remove the two screws that attach the top of the instrument panel to the dash.

3. Once the screws have been removed use your pry tool to pry the bottom corners of the bezel away from the dash.

4. You can then pull the top left and right corners away from the dash.

5. Pull the bezel forward and remove it.

6. There are four 7mm screws that attach the instrument cluster to the dash two on the top and two on the bottom. The two on the bottom are recessed screws that we mentioned earlier that you may need a needle nose or a magnet to remove.

7. After they have been unscrewed remove the screws with your socket wrench.

8. Then unplug it by compressing the tab on the plug and pulling it away.

9. You can now remove the cluster.

Install Your New Ford F-150 Instrument Cluster

10. To install the cluster, position the cluster top first into the dash and plug it in. You can now set the cluster in place by aligning the two posts at the bottom corners with the two alignment holes in the cluster.

11. You can now reattach the four 7mm screws with your socket wrench.

12. Install the bezel by putting it back into position and pressing the bezel tabs into the dash.

13. You can now reattach the two 7mm screws on the top of the instrument cluster bezel with your small ratchet. It is helpful to start them by hand.

14. Installation is now complete.
